Winter Garden was originally settled as a scattering of farms around the edges of Lake Apopka in 1850. In the 1880's the railroad stimulate growth and Winter Garden emerged as a citrus and vegetable center. In the 1920's, Winter Garden was the third largest city in Orange County and the streets began to take on a certain charm that has been preserved in the Historic Downtown District.

Incorporated in 1903, the City of Winter Garden has grown and is proud to offer a full range of award-winning services to those who live, learn, work and play here.
